From a small village in the Swedish countryside, bringing what could be described as Northern Lights folk-tronica, come girl/boy duo The Deer Tracks. Their gorgeous sound is like some elfin telex from another universe, an electromagnetic mist of melodies and harmonic noise. Critically acclaimed 2008 debut album ‘Aurora’ received stellar reviews across the board includingThe Guardian and NME.

The band then reached an even larger audience with a full song placement in the hit show Grey’s Anatomy.

They will shortly release their second long player ‘The Archer Triology Pt 2’ as part of a trio of releases.

Gyratory System is the sound of electronica played by clockwork and steam-powered sequencers.

Combining acoustic and electronic sounds  they draw on sources from post-punk, to jazz, to Krautrock, to early house music.

Two albums to date, ‘The Sound-Board Breathes’, 2009 +  ‘New Harmony’, 2011 have met with great critical praise and substantial radio support. The band has toured the UK extensively.

When not creating Gyratory System’s blend of heavily treated wind instruments, synths and processed percussion, producer/trumpeter Dr. Blick is a constitutional historian and author who once worked at No. 10 Downing Street. His diverse musical background includes work with artists such as Damo Suzuki of Can, David Gedge of the Wedding Present and drum n’ bass DJ Grooverider.

Sabina Pieper, Koyser, Vincent Taghzouit and Bob Cookman opened the Beanery cafe on the 10th of February 2011 – a place they describe as a ” An independent coffee shop serving specialist coffees, pastries and stone baked pizza’s of a very high standard. “

The Beanery is looking to cater for the local community, many of whom pass through the station twice a day, and residents who fancy a quality cup of coffee and a bite to eat during the day. The Beanery will be open Monday – Friday 7am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 8pm and Sunday 11am to 8pm.

Sabina opened the new cafe with her partners, Koyser, Vincent Taghzouit and Bob Cookman, who worked tirelessly on the design and redecoration of the interior finished off with a mural to help contribute to the relaxed atmosphere.

The new business makes Sabina and her partners’ new pioneers in Loughborough Junction which has not seen a new cafe open for quite some time. It’ll be great if a place like Beanery could contribute to people staying local. Sabina would love the coffee shop to be a place where the community meets, where mothers and their children meet other mothers, where the students who live there meet to socialise.

The Beanery is emphasizing quality coffees from Monmouth Coffee in Covent Garden, locally sourced organic artisan pastries, they are particularly proud of their almond croissants. In the evenings, it will be a place where you can bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy thin crust, stone baked pizzas – not the American type (like Domino’s or Pizza hut) but the “proper” Italian pizzas. Vincent is a trained pizza chef with an eye for perfection.

The Beanery would love to help improve the area around Loughborough Junction – and can do so, with everybody’s help. Come down to the Beanery, stay local and enjoy their great coffee, fresh pastries and pizzas!

The band performs numbers from the swing era, such as Glenn Miller and Count Basie, and is available for many types of gigs, such as festivals, street parties, pub events, as well as weddings and professional functions. Past gigs have included both Central London venues (The 100 Club, the Imperial War Museum and the London Marathon) and many South London venues including bandstands at Myatt’s Fields and Clapham Common, The Railway pub in Tulse Hill, Borough Market, and a WWII-themed event at Eltham Palace.
