The Loughborough Junction Forum is a grassroots organisation set up by local people to provide all members of the community with a way to improve the Loughborough Junction area. It is intended that it provides eyes, ears and a collective voice for the community. All participants are invited to provide accounts of what they see happening within the area and to share their concerns and ideas with the forum so that they can be collated and channelled to the relevant authorities.

  1. Spring Gardens in Vauxhall and Kennington Park are in the running to receive £400k from the London Assembly.
However 45 other parks are also in the running and only 10 parks can be successful. These 10 will be decided by public vote so it is imperative we mobilise as many people as possible. The potential benefits of attracting such funding are obvious. Two things – can you vote yourself and can you get others to do so as well.
The winning parks will be improved in a variety of ways, ranging from better footpaths and more lighting for safety, to providing new playgrounds and facilities for children. Others will open new cafes, refurbish derelict public toilets and improve cycle routes. Many will see traditional flower gardens restored, new wildlife habitats created, and plots provided for communities to grow fruit and vegetables.
There are three ways in which votes can be registered:
    Online – go to http://www.london.gov.uk/parksvote
Post – You can request a postal vote form by calling City Hall’s Public Liaison Unit on 020 7983 4100.
Text – Text ‘parks’ and your full London post code to 62967. This will automatically vote for the nearest park on our shortlist to that post code in the same borough.
    Voting closes 30 January 2009

    (Thanks for this Sophie)
