It’s Snowing!

The Loughborough Junction Snowman

The heaviest snow for 20 years has closed schools and shops for at least the day and has brought the community together around a common goal of having fun!  The streets have witnessed intrenched snowball fights with some of the best snowball making snow ever to land on our streets.

Locals got together on Luxor Street and built a massive 6 1/2 foot snow man complete with a carrot nose and stick arms.

There was a lovely community feeling with young and older Street residents joining in with the fun together. ‘It was great to be able to make friends while playing in the snow’ said Sophie 10.

The Loughborough Junction Forum is a grassroots organisation set up by local people to provide all members of the community with a way to improve the Loughborough Junction area. It is intended that it provides eyes, ears and a collective voice for the community. All participants are invited to provide accounts of what they see happening within the area and to share their concerns and ideas with the forum so that they can be collated and channelled to the relevant authorities.

  1. Unfortunately our snowman ‘Jaqi’ did not survive for long……it was gone in two hours! Well, lets do it again next winter!

  2. Well, there’s more snow on the way on Thursday, let us rebuild Jaqi then!

  3. What a wonderful day it was!
I’ve never seen anything like it with every one coming together in the community to throw snowballs at each other and laugh about it. Ruskin was FULL of snowmen, hundreds of happy people wandering about.

I took some photos you can see here:
