Loughborough Junction – The Big Lunch

Hello all,

I’ve just joined the Loughborough Junction Action group and thought you might want to know about The Big Lunch (www.thebiglunch.com). The Big Lunch encourages people to sit down with their neighbours in July and have lunch together, it aims to encourage the sharing of resources and building communities.

It’s supposed to be on Sunday 18th July but it might be fun to organise street parties in LJ the weekend before instead to tie in with the Loughborough Junction in Bloom competition?

Last year the Cambria pub held a Big Lunch and the Milkwood Road residents association invited families to eat lunch together in the community park but it would be great if we could reclaim some of the streets in LJ for the day for residents.

I’ve just found out that Lambeth Council have agreed to waive the normal fee for street closure applications if they receive them by tomorrow. Anyone interested should email Sue Sheehan SSheehan@lambeth. gov.uk for the forms. I’m keen to get one started on Poplar Road – anyone want to help?

I’ll be at the Herne Hill hustings tonight if anyone wants to know more.

Thanks, Claire

The Loughborough Junction Forum is a grassroots organisation set up by local people to provide all members of the community with a way to improve the Loughborough Junction area. It is intended that it provides eyes, ears and a collective voice for the community. All participants are invited to provide accounts of what they see happening within the area and to share their concerns and ideas with the forum so that they can be collated and channelled to the relevant authorities.
