Loughborough Junction Artists invited to submit designs

Notting Hill Housing and Skanska are seeking to commission an artist to create an high quality piece of artwork as part of the construction of a new build affordable housing development adjoining Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.

The artwork will be integrated into the main fabric or construction of the new development and be retained as a permanent feature within the community. The piece should be physically accessible to both the residents of the Coldharbour Lane development and the wider community and will involve the opportunity to work alongside the architect and design team. The new building is due to be completed in late Summer 2011.

A short-list of artists will be selected, who will be paid a stipend of £1,000 to create a model of their proposal, together with a detailed budget and presentation material. The total budget for the winning design should not exceed £60,000.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 29th May 2010.

It is intended that it provides eyes, ears and a collective voice for the community.
